Sharjah

Sharjah is the third largest emirate and city in the UAE. Its location, just north of Dubai, has made it party to the growth in that city. As development continues in the both cities, the two are now only separated by Al Mamzar Creek.
Recently named the Cultural Center of the Middle East, Sharjah has a reputation for being a showcase for Islamic traditions, as seen with the Islamic Souk on the lagoon, the Fabric Souk on the Corniche, the Gold Souk on the road to Ajman, and the Mosque and cultural buildings at the Roundabout.

Sharjah, under the guidance of Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qassimi, has been especially committed to the advancement of education and culture. This is evident by the number of new universities and colleges locating there and especially by the establishment of the finest museums in the Emirates. Name any topic and there is museum to cover it.

The Archeological Museum offers relics from the historic past of the Emirates while providing an opportunity for the children to dig for their own archeological finds. Next door is the Science Museum and Learning Center. Here young and old alike will find exhibits to educate and entertain. There is also the Art Museum and the Natural History Museum and the Planetarium where astronomy and celestial navigation shows are conducted regularly.
