The country's foreign relations
are guided by the principle of mutual respect and non-interference in internal
affairs , and diplomatic relations are maintained with over 150 countries .
The central focus of foreign policy is the collaboration , in a wide range of spheres , within the framework of the Arab Gulf Co-operation Council , which was founded at a summit conference in Abu Dhabi in May 1981. The Council's members , which include the UAE , Kuwait , Bahrain , Qatar , Saudi Arabia and Oman , are steadily moving to wards the creation of a single economic market , and also collaborate closely in matters of defence and security.
